WIPO Global Awards 2024: Two Indian Candidates Among 25 Finalists
World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Global Awards celebrates exceptional enterprises making smart use of intellectual property (IP) for commercialisation products and services while also bringing a positive contribution to society through their innovation and creativity.
WIPO’s Global Awards, in its third annual edition, saw a 21% increase in submissions compared to 2023 and triple the number of applications received in 2022. This year, 667 submissions were received from 107 countries across the globe. Twenty-five finalists have been selected for their innovations across various economic sectors, including food, green tech, health, ICT, and the creative industries. The winners will be announced in a ceremony on July 12 during the WIPO Assemblies.
This year, the competition introduced several changes. Alongside the small and medium enterprises (SME) category, a new startup category was created. The selection process emphasized the companies’ contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting the crucial role of innovation in driving sustainable development. Among the 25 finalists in this year’s edition of the WIPO Global Awards, two Indian companies have been recognised. This highlights India’s growing presence in the global innovation landscape and its contributions to various economic sectors aligned with the SDGs.
