Indian MSMEs should perform and compete in telecom world:  Secretary, DoT, Government of India

The India Mobile Congress (IMC), touted as Asia’s largest digital technology forum, unveiled its 2024 theme at a launch event held on Thursday, 18 July 2024, at the Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi. The event was jointly organized by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India.

The launch event included the prestigious Conferring of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Telecom Excellence Awards, recognizing distinguished contributions in various technological fields. This year’s IMC theme focused on innovation, industry leadership, and global tech engagement, promising a significant impact on innovators, industry leaders and tech enthusiasts worldwide.

The theme — The Future is Now — signified how India stands at the heart of the technological evolution and IMC 2024 bringing together global leaders – visionaries, pioneers, and innovators – to collaborate and actively shape the technologies transforming our world today, where the future isn’t just a concept – it’s happening.

Dr. Neeraj Mittal, IAS, Chairman – DCC & Secretary(T), Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India, was the Distinguished Guest and delivered a special address. Mr. Abhijit Kishore, Chairman of COAI welcomed the gathering. In his address, Dr Mittal highlighted India’s pioneering role in the global digital landscape. “India has taken the leadership role, and with the launch of WTCL this year, it will bring more people into the fold,” he stated. “We want India and its industry, startups, and MSMEs to perform and compete in the telecom world which is not easy to compete in” he added.
