DPIIT and Kotak Mahindra Bank Join Forces to Boost India’s Startup Ecosystem

In a significant move to strengthen India’s innovation landscape, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. The partnership aims to provide comprehensive financial and non-financial support to startups across the country.

The collaboration is designed to create a structured framework that enables DPIIT-recognised startups to access customised banking solutions, credit facilities, digital and payment infrastructure, and capacity-building programmes. By bridging policy, industry and finance, the initiative underscores DPIIT’s commitment to nurturing an innovation-led economy and positioning India as a global startup hub.

Under the MoU, Kotak Mahindra Bank will offer a dedicated suite of services for startups, including zero-balance current accounts, working capital and term loans, API-enabled banking platforms, digital payment solutions and specialised startup cards. Beyond banking, the partnership will also facilitate access to mentorship, investment advisory, incubation support and networking opportunities helping startups grow from ideation to scale.

This initiative provides a holistic support ecosystem, combining financial tools, advisory services, technology enablement, funding access and market linkages. By leveraging Kotak’s financial expertise and DPIIT’s policy leadership, the partnership is set to empower startups at every stage of their journey and accelerate India’s transition toward a self-reliant, innovation-driven economy.
